Was in Frogtown, taking mom out to do errands. We stopped at the bank and, outside, a guy approached us and asked if we wanted to hear the word of God. We declined and he gave us business cards & walked down the sidewalk towards the grocery - our next stop. When the guy reached the gas station at the corner, a crowd quickly formed around him. We started to hear a voice coming from the crowd. I stepped forward to see & hear what was going on. My mom wasn't interested & waited at the bank. As I neared the crowd, I saw the guy holding a small transistor radio & from it came the "voice of God". It was scratchy & compressed with a lot more bass than I'd expect from a tiny speaker. It seemed to be 2 voices slightly out of sync. I couldn't understand anything.
About that time, I saw Malka across the street arrive home from the grocery. I followed her in & up the stairs to her apartment where about a half dozen small to medium sized dogs were waiting. She had died her hair blonde but hadn't gotten the roots. I tried to tell her the guy across the street at the gas station was playing the voice(s) of God on a cheap portable radio. She was not interested & seemed kind of annoyed.
